TWO rambles taking in the Heavens valley at 1.30pm on 7 June

We’re delighted that the Stroud Rambling Club has added to its spring walks programme two walks centred largely in and around the Heavens, both taking place simultaneously from 1.30pm on Sunday June 7.

There will be two walks to choose from:
1) A 2.6-mile (maximum) walk around the valley, with 520 ft being uphill. Meet by the kissing gate at Grid Ref. SO 8637 0445
https://what3words.com/eaten.create.built
(The gate is a little beyond the top of the steep hill up from the stepping stones over the brook, at the bottom of the old bridleway that eventually leads up to the Heavens Cottages)

2) A five-mile walk, starting from outside Waitrose in London Road (https://w3w.co/sunflower.defaults.nothing) and going along the canal, then a climb up past the cemetery to The Horns, then a circuit round Middle Lypiatt and down past the Heavens cottages into the valley.

Both walks start at 1.30pm prompt and both will culminate from about 3.30pm in the valley for a picnic (you might like to take a flask of tea and something to eat).
If it’s raining we will take our picnics to a supporter’s house nearby.

Everyone is welcome to join; you don’t have to be a member of the Stroud Rambling Club. The walks are suitable for all ages, including accompanied children, though a degree of fitness is needed as the routes are uneven and steep in parts (and muddy in wet weather), and there will be some stiles to navigate.

Dogs (on lead) are welcome on the short walk but owners will need to be able to lift them over stiles. The long walk is not suitable for dogs.

There’s no charge and no need to book; just turn up – but please be there in plenty of time as both groups will set off promptly at 1.30pm.
Donations on the day will be very welcome; representatives of the Heavens Valley CBS will be there.

Parking near the valley is tricky, so if you’re coming by car we advise using the London Road car park near Waitrose, where parking is free on Sundays.
